St. Mary’s Catholic School is founded on the belief that Jesus as Lord is the center of our existence. Our main focus, then, is to help the children build a strong relationship with God, living out their faith daily, and focusing on the end goal of eternal life with God. A strong emphasis on the development of an understanding and love for the sacramental and liturgical life of the Church is seen as a means of achieving this relationship with God.
Each child is seen as a unique person with special gifts and talents, coming from a variety of backgrounds, experiences and limitations, learning in a variety of ways. Providing for these differences by a variety of teaching/learning styles, a warm and caring atmosphere, and positive approaches in bringing out the best in each child is our goal.
We regard each child as a potential contributor to society, and therefore strive to prepare the child for this responsibility by teaching strong values and morality based on the Gospel. An awareness of the problems in society of freedom and justice of the global community, together with the tools to meet these problems head on, will arm the child to make a difference in the world.
Cooperation and understanding between home and school is crucial to the success of the child. Parents and school personnel commit themselves to support and bringing about quality education in our schools, which provides the students with the needed skills to model the faith and values the school teaches.
