What Minutes Count?
1. Reading before and after school and during recess.
2. Free time reading in the classroom. (Recorded on In-Class Reading Log)
3. Other people reading aloud to you.
4. Reading aloud to other people (you can read to a fellow student or sibling and minutes count for BOTH students!)
5. Reading aloud to the cat, dog, or even pet goldfish counts!
6. Reading in a tree, on the bus, in the car, on an airplane, even under the bedcovers with a flashlight
counts!
7. Assigned reading for homework and book reports (outside of class-time)
8. Reading comic books, newspapers, and magazines
9. Reading in another language
10. Audio books
Reading that doesn’t count:
1. Reading before the official start of the Read-A-Thon
2. Reading after the end of the Read-A-Thon
3. Assigned reading during class time
4. Reading you haven’t done but think you will do in the future
