In 1999 the Archdiocese of Denver established St. Mary Catholic School to be a part of St. Mary Catholic Parish with the inception of morning and afternoon kindergarten, housed in a classroom in the Parish Hall. In July 2000, with the blessing of Archbishop Charles Chaput, Fr. (Monsignor) Peter Quang Nguyen, broke ground on the new school. In the fall of 2000, a first grade class was added in the classroom next door and the school already boasted 38 students, a staff of 2 full time teachers and a principal, Mr. Bill Gallop. In June of 2001, Sister Anno La Mere and Sister Marilyn Skluzacek were hired as the principal and assistant principal/4th grade teacher, respectively. These two dedicated women helped open the school in its new building in August 2001. The school doors opened with over 200 students in grades K-6. Construction continued on the third floor and in the fall of 2002 the school was completed for an enrollment of appriximately 225 students in grades k-7. The following year, eighth grade as added, making our school complete as a K-8 facility.
